Can't believe it took me this long to read it. One of those books (like Democracy in America) that I wish I could read in a classroom setting with healthy discussion sections and lectures to provide richer context than the remnants of U.S. History courses still lingering in my head.

Blizzard delays (that don't involve StarCraft 2)

Getting through and out of New York City was made a bit more difficult thanks to the sudden downfall of a metric shit-ton of snow. Citywide whiteout stopped even the BoltBus, Amtrak was delayed, but eventually had a train that braved the route to Baltimore.

On the brightside: picked up some Stollen for my dad. Tasty. Some of the best I've had outside of Dresden.

Ackbar in the office

Chromakode, a longtime redditor and hacker behind Socialite, visited the reddit office in SF and we traded him schwag for a few modeling photos. I knew that Admiral Ackbar mask I picked up for Halloween was going to come in handy...

I'm absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to share a few minutes about reddit with the TED audience. Make no mistake, I wouldn't be on that stage if it weren't for the half-a-million redditors who visit every day, making the site everything that it is.

How did it take me so long to read this? A well-written account from the trenches of Salomon Brothers during their epic run in the 80s. This should have been required reading in my finance classes. Great foreshadowing in this, too -- Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, the gang's all here.
