Parker is also putting money and effort into Airtime, reuniting him with his old Napster partner, Fanning. Parker has been coy about the platform’s specifics but says it will offer communication and sharing in real time—something he thinks is underserved on the Web. Airtime will likely be a site where friends can post videos and react to them—and each other—live. “My pitch is eliminating loneliness,” Parker says. There’s also a random video chat function similar to last year’s voyeuristic flameout, the now defunct Chatroulette. It hits the same thread that has run through all of Parker’s projects: sharing and discovery.

Keep an eye out for Airtime...

He may soon get his wish. President Obama has called for a lifting of the SEC ban as part of his jobs plan. "Right now, entrepreneurs like these bakers and these gadget-makers are already using crowdfunding platforms to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in pure donations—imagine the possibilities if these small-dollar donors became investors," two White House officials wrote in an explanation of the policy. 

Slowly but surely, many of the best iOS apps are coming to Android, and their quality once they get there is improving.

Case in point: The excellent air travel search engine Hipmunk, which arrived in a version for Android phones recently. Its Android version is just as good as the iOS one—good looking, easy to use, and brilliantly useful.

This goes back to the Limited Attention Span. With 3,000 applications they do not have time to wade through your marketing bullshit. Cut out the fluff. Want to tell a story in the app? Do it in the 3rd paragraph of a question or don't do it at all.
