How Does @YCombinator Scale Y Combinator? (@Harjeet)

Indeed, some of the other partners liken working at Y Combinator to building a university or a new type of institution that’s never seen before.

“If you think of YC as a corporation or a company, it has these characteristics that every big company would love to have,” said Harj Taggar, an alum who later became a YC partner. “It’s a bunch of smart people working on projects that they love and have upside in. But they are all linked together and get the benefits of being a part of a larger group. YC is effectively inventing a new form of organization.”

I certainly concur, Mr. Taggar!

Facebook Vs. Google - Hear my thoughts on @BloombergTV

April 2 (Bloomberg) -- Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit.com, talks about the competition between Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. over social networking and online search. He speaks with Sara Eisen and Scarlet Fu on Bloomberg Television's "InsideTrack." (Source: Bloomberg)

Early morning on Bloomberg's InsideTrack today, but it's always fun. And they've got great iced coffee.

There's nothing ridiculous about @hueypriest's lead in the @TIME 100 Most Influential poll, @Venturebeat

Martin is currently at the top of Time’s reader poll, with a ridiculous lead of over 105,000 votes at the time of publication. Part of that might have something to do with the site’s co-founder asking Reddit users to join them in voting, and conveniently submitting a direct link to Martin’s nomination page. The site’s user base is very familiar with the concept of judging submissions, and is responsible for bringing in a monstrous two billion page views per month.

He got my vote.

Infinite Copyright Is Killing Culture

via slate.com

Yikes.

In the United States, books published before 1922 are in the public domain. Later ones are copyrighted. And the window no longer shifts. Congress enacts retroactive extensions of copyright terms, so the public domain never expands. The impact on book shimpments, as seen above, is dramatic.
