Ararat Brandy Factory Tour

Although Armenian Brandy (and I suppose any Brandy/Cognac) becomes more valuable the longer it remains in the barrel, everyone is hoping to enjoy this batch as soon as possible. It won't be opened until there is peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

I'll Never Tire of This

Here's a reddit birthday cake some awesome person made for a redditor. Alas, I've got no idea of the source beyond this Imgur link, so let me know whom I should attribute this wonderful artwork to. It's still a total mindjob to think that 5 years ago, I never imagined my little alien would've gotten so famous. Thanks, reddit! It was my birthday on the 24th, so I'm pretending my name is on the cake.

Dad in the Torch-light Procession

Today, my birthday, is the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Last night, we took part in a torch-light procession from the Matenadaran to the Genocide Museum & Memorial overlooking the capital of Yerevan. The walk was less somber than I expected, but when we finally reached the memorial, the sight and sounds of so many mourning Armenians laying flowers was incredibly moving.

Visiting Noravank

The first stop on the journey south through Armenia, Noravank. This beautiful 13th century monastery is situated in a gorge and features some incredibly tiny steps on the facade of the two-storey S. Astvatsatsin church. I didn't make it up two the second floor, so for all I know, it's full of chocolate and gold.
