Superman Is An Immigrant

My mom immigrated from Germany and was undocumented for about a year. My dad’s family fled the Armenian Genocide. They all just wanted better lives for themselves - for me. 

I am the American Way.

Well said, sir. I always tell people I'm the product of an immigrant family too. My mom's family immigrated from Greece in the 20th Century, and my father's family immigrated in the 18th.
As a 1st gen American of parents who left Europe after WWII, I always reminded my European and Asian friends in the dark days of the late 1970s and early 1980s about how America was the greatest social experiment in mankind's history, even exceeding that of Rome. 30 years later we are witnessing the benefits of that experiment. But the same heterogeneity that contributes to our constant creation and acceptance of new ideas, processes and institutions, carries with it the burdens of debate, reflection and reaction that can raise barriers to leading change globally. The pioneering spirit let us pack our bags if we didn't like the way things were and move on. That way of thinking means we need to work with and evolve what we have in the present if we want to disrupt it.
