Ask Y Combinator anything: YC Q&A Sessions coming to Boston (11 Oct) & NYC (13 Oct)

I'm really enjoying my role as Y Combinator's Ambassador to the East (taking it so seriously, I'm in Laos right now!).

Most importantly, this entails engaging the startup community here on the east side of the U.S. As it turns out, lots of folks still have questions about what happens at Y Combinator.

Well, Harj (who started this founder-turned-YCer trend) and I will be visiting Boston & New York next week to host an open Q&A meetup for any and all startup founders (or even just the startup-curious!) interested in Y Combinator. There will be snacks and drinks (gotta be >= 21 please. Sorry!)

It'll be a chance to ask the two of us anything you want in front of a lot of people (please share details of the event freely, though we won't have anything setup to broadcast, etc). We'll also be inviting all YC startups still in the area, so you'll have plenty of veterans to chat with.

Please join us for a few fun hours and maybe we'll show you the secret handshake.*

And a big thank you to our hosts in each city who so graciously let us crash their workspaces with our beer, snacks, and startup geekery.

+1 upboat for you! Looking forward to the NY session and meeting you + the other YC folk.
Score! See you there, good sir.
The universe evidently really wants me to go. I'm in NYC for 4 days, one of them being the 13th. Thanks for doing these -- looking forward to it!
Looking forward... Thanks Alexis..
can students and other non-veterans come?
Hurray! Looking forward to this universe-guided event in NYC - hope you leave with any & all Y Combinator questions answered. Application deadline for this Winter is right around the corner, Oct 19...
Can we ask questions regarding status of our applications or a feedback for it? Anything we can do to strengthen our application.
Sorry, we can't talk about specific applications, but we can talk generally about what makes an application awesome.
it would've been helpful...thanks anyway!
Will there be any livesteam of the Q&A? Would be great to listen in!
Can somebody Justin.tv this?
Harj had suggested we take advantage of the badass new JTV iPhone/android apps... I hope it happens!
Bring an iPhone/Android with the Justin.TV app and broadcast away :)
Hi Alexis, I can broadcast this on justin tv. It will be available on
http://www.justin.tv/yc_ny as soon as the even begins.
Splendid! Thanks, Nikhil.
Super excited to be at the Q/A! Thanks for hosting man.
Should be a fun time! Our true hosts (Venture Cafe/CambridgeInnovationCenter and Hunch) get all the thanks, though :)
I have not see an answer to this question. I was unable to attend the Boston and New York events, but I would love to see a video recording of the session. Is this possible? Thanks!
Amy it's on Justin.tv/harj
Thank you Tim!

Yes, thank you Tim!

Is there an option for ppl who are unable to join to send their questions?
You can write your questions in the chat section or comment on the channel at http://justin.tv/yc_ny and I will try to ask them during the session.

Nikhil
Perfect. Thanks a lot.
I missed october when is the next meeting on the east coast?? florida???
Nothing scheduled, but probably something around the next round of applications in the spring. I don't think we'll make it that far down south to Florida, though... (sorry)
wI hope to make it there ... just thought Naples florida makes a nice spot for a meeting in the winter ...btw love the great work you are doing with breadpig....thats the kind of thing that brings peace !
Very good point about Naples, FL! I'm getting a little tired of the NY snow, I've gotta confess. And thanks! I love all the support breadpig has gotten from awesome people like you - it really goes a long way to grow what we're doing and encourage us along the way.
